Series win - April 28

The Pirates went from losing 22 games in a row in Miller Park to winning a series there. It was a good day. Malholm pitched okay. 4 runs allowed, but made it through 7 innings. McCutchen hit two homeruns. LaRoche hit a homerun. Doumit hit a pinch hit homerun. Jones got a clutch hit, the game winning RBI actually. Iwamura and Jones both raised their average. The bullpen did give back one lead, but Carrasco pitched well enough to get the win, and even came back out after the Pirates took the lead in the 14th to finish off the game. That was great and saved an arm. Carrasco went three innings. Pretty impressive. Hanrahan did well as did Meek.

In fact the lone problem is Octavio "Doh-tel". He blew another. He did come back out and finish the 11th without a run. Still, the man is paid to save ball games. He failed to do it again. The Pirates need him to be a closer, a real closer or they will never get to .500. They pulled him out of the fire today, but saves are a must for a struggling team like the Pirates.

Matt Capps for those who are wondering is perfect in save attempts for the Nationals.
