I told you so

I knew Jeff Karstens was up to the task. He always has been. Karstens did not get the victory, but he did his job. 6 and 1/3 innings of 2 run baseball. He left the game with a 2-2 tie. Of course the bullpen folded and gave up a homerun to seemingly lose the game. Just the 23rd straight loss in Miller Park. But lo and behold . . .

Ronny Cedano ties the game on the second pitch from Trevor Hoffman. Then a strike out, two hits and a walk later Ryan Doumit hits a grand slam to give the Pirates a 7-3 win.

Tomorrow will tell if the Pirate offense has woken up or if they just ran into Hoffman, who is ending his career as one of the worst closers in the game. Hoffman was soundly booed by the Brewer fans.

No matter what happens replacing Charlie Morton with Karstens is a great idea.
