Roster set

The Pirates have set their roster, and I have to say I am pleased. They ended up releasing Ramon Vasquez and keeping John Raynor. That is a great thing for the Pirates. I have to say that I am not so sure about Penn in the bullpen. I would have been happier with Brian Bass, but is it really that big a deal who fills out spot number 7 in the bullpen? Plus, Penn may only be here short term if Hanrahan comes back in 5 to 10 days.

Just for the recored Jack Taschner and D.J. Carrasco were added to th 40-man roster. The spots were opened up by releasing Vasquez and by putting Jose Ascino on the 60 Day Disabled List.

The Season begins tomorrow about 1:30pm.
